Thala na Gethu!

Story is King. Then comes rest...

No offence, but I couldn't give a $*** abt Bleach after some time (heck, the show never even touched its 100th episode, but its uninvolving plot witb garbage leads & Kurousaki-kun bimbo everywhere) forced me to divert my attention to its Power Hierachy & till this date, couldnt figure out the rank.

It just goes to show how f**** up the show is.

Even FMAB falls in the same group. It took goddamn 20+ episodes for me to know the plot. Again, weak leads & horrible pacing. Though, it redeemed itself frm ep 40 onwards.

Shows like DoragonBoru, DN, Code G, Inuyasha, HXH (2011) doesnt need Power/Rank as the story/adventure is the key

The moment u notice Power Hierachy to be the dominant aspect or sometimes (the only thing going for a show like Bleach), it just goes to shows its s***** status

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

Well it is kind of episodic for the first while.

I too found the power hierarchy pretty meh besides the good story. Alchemy is cool but the action sequences were pretty crap aside from when Greed and/or Bradley were fighting.

Especially the ending. Edward having a fist fight with someone who's practically a God...? It really took away from the story to have that kind of nonsense happen.

World building is absolutely necessary I think, you need to be invested in the series' world to care about the story or specific arc. Like in One Piece there's usually a s*** ton of world or rather island building before an arc truly begins, so that you care about the racism or slavery the people in the arc have experienced. (not that everyone does care)

And then as said there's Bleach which has Karakuri town and Soul Society and Hueco Mundo which is basically a big desert...exciting stuff. Everything about the first two places is extremely standard and never touched upon, heck half the time Kubo doesn't even f***ing draw the literal world the characters exist in most of the world we've seen is anime filler design.

Overall there needs to be a balance between the two of course but I think world building and power hierarchy come first in a battle focused series, because the story usually slowly builds up. I don't think I've ever seen a series that says "this is going to happen" in the first episode, they never really start in full sprint just a slow crawl to get you invested.
Which it's really hard to be if you just don't care about anything in the series.
